Experienced Personal Injury Lawyers Serving McLean County
“Chris Rhoads was knowledgeable and experienced, but completely down to earth in helping me with a recent insurance claim dispute. His fee was more than fair and the results were ideal. I recommend him to everyone that might need some help getting what they deserve from an insurance company. Thank you very much Chris.”

Helping McLean Country Residents
The lawyers at Rhoads & Rhoads have handled several cases in the McLean county courts. We have also taken several cases to trial, obtaining verdicts for our clients, including a judgment exceeding a million dollars for a client injured in a motorcycle accident, and a six-digit verdict in a wrongful termination/employment harassment case. With McLean county being located directly between our Owensboro and Madisonville offices, we have had the pleasure of representing hundreds of clients in McLean County in personal injury, Social Security Disability and Workers’ Compensation claims. We have handled and continue to handle many cases for injured and disabled coal miners and agricultural workers. In fact, our roots go as deep in McLean County as the Revolutionary War. In 1784, Jerry and Chris Rhoads’ forefathers, Henry and Solomon Rhoads settled the community of Rhoadsville on the Green river and built a fort to protect the settlers. However, they lost a land grant in court, and Rhoadsville was later renamed Calhoun, which is now the McLean county seat. We truly value our roots and experience in representing the hard-working people in McLean county.
Living in McLean County
Nestled in the heart of Western Kentucky, McLean County offers relaxed country living while being surrounded by a host of larger communities such as Evansville, Owensboro, Bowling Green, Nashville and Paducah. From a rich history dating before the Civil War and its role in that conflict through today, McLean County is a vital part of the region.
A Kentucky Scenic Byway community, McLean County is located in the Bluegrass, Blues and barbeque region of Kentucky. From the panhandle and Calhoun on the north bank of Green River to Sacramento, home to the annual Battle of Sacramento Civil War Reenactment, McLean County boasts some beautiful scenery. Livermore Bridge in Livermore is the county’s longest bridge, crossing the Rough and Green Rivers and two counties before circling back to McLean county.
McLean County has more planes per capita than anywhere in Kentucky. Beech Grove not only has the largest New Holland Tractor dealership, it is the birthplace of the first American killed in WWI. The historic community of Rumsey is named after navigation pioneer James Rumsey, who captains the first steamboat to carry both freight and passengers.
Affordable housing, a quality public school system and a comfortable pace of life makes McLean County a great place to raise a family, or continue raising families through multiple generations, as so many of our residents are doing.
Driving in McLean County
Demographic data shows that over 75% of county residents work outside the county, while two- thirds of the people working in the county commute in from a neighboring county each day. That puts a great deal of traffic on our roadways. In the past three years, that traffic has resulted in over 800 vehicular accidents, including nearly 200 resulting in injury, with eight fatal accidents.
Dangerous roadways and intersections in McLean County the past three years:
- HWY 431 south of Island (11 injury accidents, one fatal)
- KY 254 between the Pond River and KY 1155 (10 injury accidents)
- Intersection of KY 85 and KY 81 south of Sacramento (8 injury accidents)
- HWY 431 between Barrett Hill Rd and Buck Creek (6 injury accidents, two fatal)
- KY 81 between Calhoun and HWY 140 (17 injury accidents)
Approximately 10% of all accident victims in McLean County the past three years have involved tractor-trailer trucks or other large commercial vehicles. These sorts of collisions often result in serious injury or death for drivers and passengers in smaller, personal vehicles. Consider the nearly 4-to-1 weight differential between an 18-wheeler and a passenger car and it is easy to understand how vulnerable those in the smaller vehicle will be in an accident. Collisions involving trucks can be caused by the same reasons for any other accidents – speeding, inattentive or distracted driving and failure to obey traffic laws.
Rhoads and Rhoads, the most experienced and most successful personal injury law firm in Western Kentucky, is here for you in case of an accident with a commercial vehicle. Don’t go up against big corporations, their insurance companies and their legal teams without a team of your own. Rhoads & Rhoads will work with you to recover damages related to the following types of personal injury cases involving:
- Medical expenses, including those for ambulance bills, surgeries, doctor visits, and prescriptions
- Physical, occupational, and rehabilitation therapy
- Lost wages

- Necessary medical equipment
- Pain and suffering
- Psychological or emotional counseling
Obviously, one cannot easily place a dollar amount on areas such as pain and suffering. Our goal at Rhoads & Rhoads is to help you get the largest settlement possible based on your personal injury matter.

I think of the different folks I’ve represented in McLean County, across the entire county, and the friends that we have, whether it’s in Sacramento, Calhoun, Livermore, Ramsey, Buttonsberry, all over the county. It’s really been a special place to us.
It’s got a special place in my heart, because that’s where the patriarch of our family, Henry Rhoads, founded and actually named Calhoun Rhoadsville before he lost a land grant in the court system and he got booted and had to move down to Muhlenberg County.
We’ve had a great history with the folks in McLean County, and it’s been a really special place to us.
